Baby Products Are Not The Last Word
I have very little if any experience with babies or baby products. Since I am not a parent, I can only guess at the hardship that actual parents must go through. The baby products that I sell are designed to make things easier for the everyday parent. Making things easier does not mean that it directly affects the parent only. It may also mean it is more fun for the baby. As I sit here typing, I am listening to the sound of a child crying. She does not sound happy, but it is most likely a small misunderstanding. Usually about what the kid can and cannot play with. Psychology comes into play a lot because there is no way for the small baby to communicate except by crying or fussing in some way. When the child is older, she can communicate, but not the way adults do. It is still a guessing game. As before it is more than likely a misunderstanding because the kid wants one thing and she cannot have it. She does not understand that the candy or the stuffed doll is not hers. She cannot keep it.
Baby products that make the lives of parents easier are not always necessary, but they can be a comfort. There are regular wash cloths sold ten for a dollar, but the quality is not there. If one gets baby burp cloths instead, then the there is higher quality, and the baby does not complain as much with the coarseness of the cloth. Granted the baby is not going to say, “Gee mom, can you find a more course cloth to wipe my face with?” Of course not. She is just going to cry and you as the parent are not going to know why.
Bath time. Since, as I have said before, I am not a parent. I will say from what I have experienced of baby bath time that it can be a great experience for the baby or a terrible experience. With the right attitude and fun bath time products, the experience can be a positive one. Bath time products, again, are not always necessary. The baby may or may not enjoy them. It is the fault of the parent if bathing the child is a good or bad experience. Bath products are not the last word on whether or not the baby enjoys her bath. “My little Mandy hates bath time because she doesn’t have a rubber ducky.” Preposterous. Everything that we do, whether good or bad, comes from within. The heart. A good parent is one who listens and adapts to the baby’s needs. Parenting is not learned from a book.
If there is a situation where the baby cries and cries and cries, the best thing to do is not to panic. Sometimes the baby needs to cry. If you have been a good parent previously, then you will have an idea whether it is something really bad (like a medical problem) or something that she needs to vent.
I will have children soon and I feel that proper preparation is to gain the abililty to listen. Laziness need not apply. Parents, please listen to your child and find out what she really wants and not what just shuts them up. Parenting begins when the baby is born and does not stop until death.
