It’s been a while since I’ve written a post, but I have taken some time off to be with my family during the Christmas Holiday. I hope you all enjoyed your celebrations and had a Happy New Year…Now it’s back to work and the start of a new year!

I bet you all have lots of new year’s resolutions and would like to start this year off on a great note. I also would bet that you’re all glad that this past year is behind us and that 2009 will be the year that we turn around and begin to pick up the pieces that were scattered all around us.

I hope that this year will find you in better spirits, a better job or anything better that you have been longing for. These are tough times that we are in and it takes lots of creativity just to make ends meet for some of us.

Wow, Christmas is almost here! I love it! I wish all my readers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Remember to slow down, enjoy this time with family and really appreciate all that you have been blessed with throughout 2008. Remember what this season is really about. Remember those who might not be as fortunate. Give extra hugs to the kids and thank the elderly for their contributions to this world. Pray that our soldiers come home soon and that all the fighting can come to a swift ending. Give an extra kiss to your spouse as they walk out the door and remember to thank the store employees who are worn out from the Holiday Shopping Season.

Let’s all enjoy this wonderful time wherever you may be and may 2009 be the best ever! Merry Christmas!

thanksgiving or happy thanksgiving Pictures, Images and PhotosI will not be on here tomorrow, so I would like to extend a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I feel sometimes that life can be really tough, but when I think about it, I have alot to be thankful for. I don’t always realize that I have so much already, right here in front of me.

I have a husband and three great kids. I have a wonderful Mom and Dad and brother & sister. I have three brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Two nieces & four nephews. Uncles, Aunts & Cousins and more… We have a home, health & just enough to get by. I have a great friend who is going through a tough time right now, but who could teach us all a thing or two about courage and being thankful even when things get bad.

Well, another weekend come and gone. With each passing day, Christmas gets closer and closer. I love this time of year, though. I miss the warm days of summer, but there is a magic in the air now that brings a certain twinkle to the eyes.

rockwell_thanksgiving.jpg Norman Rockwell image by vil1313Maybe it’s the excitement of the kids or the crispness of the cold, whatever it is, it’s magic. It snowed here in Carolina on Friday, last week, and the look on the kid’s faces was enough to send your heart afflutter. It’s nothing compared to the snow from where we come from, but it’s enough to make the kids smile.

Soon we will be doing our Christmas decorating - we actually put up the outside lights this weekend. We don’t turn them on till after Thanksgiving though. With all the rush in the stores to push Christmas as early as September, we feel that turning them on before Thanksgiving, is just not right. Maybe it’s just that I’m from a whole different generation and need to savor the pureness of the season.

Well, after working most of the last day on getting my website back to what it was, I’m almost there. Things don’t always go the way we want them to, do they? I will just pick up and move on. What else can you do? When life gives us curves, we learn to swerve. So I swerved.

This is a post to let all of you who regularly come to my site, that are wondering what happened to all my stuff, know that a little troll in website land took all my sidebars. Everything I had was wiped out and I need to start over. So if you were wondering, that’s what happened.

(Oh, and if you can find the website fairy, tell her I need her.)

Who Is The Rich Man?

I found this little story and thought I’d share it with everyone. It can teach us all a lesson:

One day a wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country so that the son could see how the poor lived. They spent a day and a night at the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” “Very good, Dad!” “Did you see how poor people can be?” “Yeah!” “And what did you learn?” The son answered, “I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden; they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the house; they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard; they have the whole horizon.” When the little boy was finished, the father was speechless. His son then added, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are!”

What Happened To America?

Maybe I’m a little ticked off today, but I am fed up with hearing the cries from Wall Street and the “bailout”. Now, I want to tell you, I am NOT a political person. I’m just a mom, with three kids and a husband who is trying to make ends meet, just like all of you, but this is really getting to me.

wall_street.jpgWhen did we start to care more about ourselves than our fellow human beings? What is happening to corporate America that they could care less about losing companies that are older than me for the sake of greed. Workers are being let go, people are losing their retirement nest eggs and the CEO’s that ran these companies are walking away! They always say “Money is the root of all evil”. Well, today it surely stands true.

This is the part that really ticks me off:
