This is especially true if you’ve given birth. You gain weight to cushion the baby, but then it doesn’t come off! Why is that? Unless you have the benefit of a personal trainer, it is real hard to get this off.

I’ve been doing some research though and found that by changing some things about the way we eat and exercise can have a real impact on how quickly we lose belly fat. I always thought you had to do a million crunches and situps, but have found that those aren’t neccessarily what will work and by doing a full-body workout, you can see results even quicker! I am going to start doing a morning walk, the dog could benefit too, and I’m going to start to boost my metabolism by eating better. They were not expensive - less than $100 bucks for all the wood. We even got a workbench out of the deal. It makes me so happy to walk out into the garage now and see a floor! Now we just have to get the rest of the house organized.

I did find some really neat behind the door hanging organizers that I got from the The Container Store.  I use them for all the kid’s school papers and my Sunday School stuff. Papers have a way of piling up in my house and these have saved me some sanity. I’m going to buy another one for the other side. Very inexpensive at $14.99 a piece.

I’m going to move all throughout the house organizing everything. I will be known as the organizing queen! What is it that a house accumulates so much stuff so quickly?

Well, if you feel the way I do, 2009 is the year to clean up and get organized.

I bet you all have lots of new year’s resolutions and would like to start this year off on a great note. I also would bet that you’re all glad that this past year is behind us and that 2009 will be the year that we turn around and begin to pick up the pieces that were scattered all around us.

I hope that this year will find you in better spirits, a better job or anything better that you have been longing for. These are tough times that we are in and it takes lots of creativity just to make ends meet for some of us.

Be great in 2009 and lets all pray that this year is a turn around and that America becomes greater and better than it ever was!

I have a husband and three great kids. I have a wonderful Mom and Dad and brother & sister. I have three brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Two nieces & four nephews. Uncles, Aunts & Cousins and more… We have a home, health & just enough to get by. I have a great friend who is going through a tough time right now, but who could teach us all a thing or two about courage and being thankful even when things get bad.

And a God who watches over me and my family and who I know does not let me live alone. He is always there, even when things don’t seem to go the way we want them to. Sometimes it might seem that He doesn’t care or doesn’t answer us when we call to Him, but I think we need to look for the answers, because sometimes we just don’t pay attention.

I am very thankful for all that I have and I hope that all of you are thankful today too. Remember what Thanksgiving is really all about.

Maybe it’s the excitement of the kids or the crispness of the cold, whatever it is, it’s magic. It snowed here in Carolina on Friday, last week, and the look on the kid’s faces was enough to send your heart afflutter. It’s nothing compared to the snow from where we come from, but it’s enough to make the kids smile.

Soon we will be doing our Christmas decorating - we actually put up the outside lights this weekend. We don’t turn them on till after Thanksgiving though. With all the rush in the stores to push Christmas as early as September, we feel that turning them on before Thanksgiving, is just not right. Maybe it’s just that I’m from a whole different generation and need to savor the pureness of the season.

But, Christmas sure is coming and whatever you do to get ready, make sure you slow down and really enjoy the time together. This is a great time of year. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and be sure to say thank you for all life’s blessings!

1. Writing out your cards now. Buy stamps, insert pictures and have everything ready to go by December 1st.

2. Buy Holiday paper goods and decorations for any parties (school included) now, so that you are well prepared for any get-togethers.

3. Hang the outside lights. You don’t have to light them up, just have this task done and out of the way.

4. Buy teacher gifts, bus driver, etc… Don’t forget gift bags (or use paper lunch bags, decorated by the kids).

5. Go through cookie recipes and decide what you will be baking. You can even start stocking up on supplies now.

6. Make a list of family gifts and set a budget for each one. Most computers come with free templates that make this job a piece of cake.

7. Most of all, have fun. Remember the Holidays are a time of rejoicing, renewal and family. Don’t get so stressed that you miss out on all the great traditions and memories that make this the best to time of year!

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we might have made them worse. For my grandchildren, I’d like better.
I’d really like for them to know about hand-me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meatloaf sandwiches.
I hope they learn humility by being humiliated, and learn honesty by being cheated. I hope they learn to make their beds and mow the lawn and wash the car.
And, my cherished grandchild, I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen. I hope you have a job by then.
It will be good if at least one time you can see a baby calf born and your old dog put to sleep.
I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother. It’s all right to draw a line down the middle of the room.
When you want to see a Disney movie and your little brother wants to tag along, I hope you’ll let him.
I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.
I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books. When you learn to use those newfangled computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.
I hope you get razzed by your friends when you have your first crush on a girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what Ivory soap tastes like.
May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and get your tongue stuck on a frozen flagpole.
I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your grandpa and go fishing with your uncle. May you feel sorrow at a funeral and the joy of holidays.
I hope your mother punishes you for throwing a baseball through a window and that she hugs and kisses you when you give her a plaster of Paris mold of your hand.
These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and above all, happiness
